Arts.  Santiago de Chile, 31/07/2014

Fundació Joan Miró is taking to Santiago de Chile a total of 112 works of art on the occasion of “Joan Miró. The strength of matter” exhibition, which is organized by the new Cultural Centre of CorpArtes Foundation in the capital of Chile. This is the second time the South American country is dedicating a showing to the multifaceted artist, after “Joan Miró. Imagination and colour” exhibition in 1998.

Rosa Maria Malet, director of Fundació Miró, is responsible for the Joan Miró exhibition in Chile, which will be open from July 31 to October 26. The collection consists of a total of 112 works which date from 1931-1981 and includes oil paintings, drawings, sculptures, graphic works and tapestries. 70 of these pieces come directly from the foundation the artist has in Barcelona.

According to the Cultural Centre’s website, which debuts with “Joan Miró. The strength of matter”, the exhibition has its focus “on the interest Miró had for the matter, which helped him to learn new techniques and to reach the purity of art, and for the experimentation around freedom and the effects of creation in different formats”.

About 100 works of art will be shown
