Richard Carson is an ambitious multimillionaire who wants to take over the Moon and exploit the future’s clean, true source of energy: Helium 3. To do so, he must erase the feats of the Apollo XI team of astronauts and its famous first steps on the Moon, which 40% of the world’s population believes is a lie. The only person who can stop him from getting away with it is a friendly and determined 12-year-old surfer named Mike Goldwing.

Exhibition: The illustrated Catalonia. An exhibition by Pilarín Bayés

This exhibition brings together a selection of one hundred illustrations by Pilarín Bayés that show the milestones in the history and culture of Catalan society, from prehistory to the present day. The exhibition is an introduction to some of the history of Catalonia and also the personal style of Pilarín Bayés, a consolidated Catalan illustrator who has published more than 900 books in eight languages and has exhibited in Spain, France and the USA.

Training seminar on literary translation from Catalan into Italian

The Institut Ramon Llull, in collaboration with the University of Bologna, has organised this Training seminar on literary translation from Catalan into Italian in order to promote the training of literary translators from Catalan into Italian and expand the network of literary translators of Catalan.
The seminar offers a theoretical and practical introduction to literary translation by the translator Beatrice Parisi, who specialises in narrative and the use of puns in language teaching. Anna Benvenuti, a translator and professor of Catalan studies at the University of Milan, will present a special session on the translation of children’s and young adult literature.

The Shoe Tree

The Shoe Tree, by the Catalans PEA GREEN BOAT company, is based on a “wishing tree”, a recurrent ancestral idea in the folk tales of many cultures. Tim cannot find his left shoe. He looks for it everywhere, until Mr Grey tells him that he will surely find it in a very special tree. Following the advice of old Mr Grey, Tim hobbles away on a journey to find his lost shoe.

Francesc Grimalt Horrach (Palma, 1971) studied Philosophy and Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona and ENSBA in Paris. But he claims that everything he has learned is the result of his classes for children and adults. He recently worked as a concept and costume designer with Ngila Dickson (Lord of the Rings), Oscar Chichoni (Pacific Rim) and Roger Christian (Star Wars, Alien) and is currently the art director for a virtual reality horror story project. He has also published two volumes in a series of books entitled Los niños raros (Strange Children).

The Toc de Fusta company presents an interactive street installation comprising handmade wooden automata and games. The aim is to entertain both those who walk with their hands in their pockets by inviting them to discover how each automaton works, and children and adults who do not want to receive instructions, but rather explore and play with the games they have created. Driven by curiosity and imagination and using play as a language, the audience is no longer comprised of mere spectators but becomes the protagonist of this intergenerational recreational space.

Volen, volen..., by the Mariantònia Oliver Company, uses dance and pure circus to develop a wordless language based on the manipulation of objects and movement. A warm and friendly choreographic game designed for children, a game that is shaped like a melodic tale, a burst of poetic images with a single objective: to stimulate the emotions of children. A show aimed at very young children, those who do not play but who live life as a game.

Una mà de contes is a programme on Catalan public TV that takes viewers on a journey into the world of art, literature, music and audiovisual media with the help of stories. Travel stories, world stories, stories of animals, horror stories, told using food, using everyday objects, stories of maths, stories of kisses...
The workshop will help us to work with narration based on illustration, video and sound by using the resources offered to us on its website.

Co-creation workshop of a fold-out book

A workshop that invites young Italian illustrators to participate in producing an animated fold-out book made of paper. Based on a verse text that tells a story from different points of view, a workshop will be conducted in which each participant illustrates one of the pages of the fold-out book. On completion of the workshop, all the pages will be photographically compiled to create an animated piece.
