Greenwich and East London// 21-30 June

GDIF 2012 to present La Fura dels Baus, Circ Pànic, Itinerària and Sarruga in London

Greenwich+Docklands International Festival (GDIF) returns this summer with a ten-day rollercoaster of theatre, dance and spectacle from the 21st to the 30th of June to Greenwich and East London in this historic Olympic Year. GDIF 2012 and the Institut Ramon Llull are delighted to be presenting work by leading Catalan companies. These include the world premiere of Prometheus Awakes from La Fura dels Baus (with Graeae); Sarruga, whose unique style grows out of the natural world; Circ Panic's breathtaking physical theatre; and Itineraria's maze installation.

A Catalan Weekend in London. Challenges, directions and new narratives in Catalan Culture

A Catalan Weekend in London will vigorously promote Catalan cultural diversity through a showcase of new tendencies in performing arts, cinema, visual arts and music from Catalonia. This weekend will be a starting point of a series of events exploring Arts, identity and linguistic diversity, focusing on other rich cultures such as Galicia and Basque Country amongst others.

Brighton// 10-12 May

The IRL, lead international partner at The Great Escape, presented Catalan Sounds: Music from Catalonia and the Balearic Islands

The Institut Ramon Llull has been The Great Escape lead international partner at the 2012 festival in Brighton, presenting Catalan Sounds: Music from Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. The full line-up of Catalan acts being Mujeres, Me And The Bees, Seward, Amics del Bosc, Ninette And The Goldfish, Oso Leone, Furguson and The Suicide Of Western Culture.  As part of Catalan Sounds, on Wednesday 9TH May, Amics del Bosc, Maika Makovski and Seward performed in London at Proud Camden at Breakout Music Week night. The Catalan Sounds Tour of 2012 had already visited SXSW and Canadian Music Week and culminated in sunny Brighton at The Great Escape (10-12 May).
