Since its founding in 1992, Writers Omi at Ledig House has hosted hundreds of authors and translators, representing more than fifty countries and welcoming published writers and translators of every type of literature. Professor Margarida Casacuberta and historian Josep Maria Muñoz will be giving lectures at different US universities this Fall on, first, the emergence of the Catalan mountain as a literary and nation-building topic in the nineteenth-century, and, second, the current emergence of secessionism as the hegemonic political project of Catalanism.

Alejandro Varderi’s translation into Spanish of Marta Pessarodona’s book of poetry L’amor a Barcelona will be presented in New York City in November, with reading of poems in Spanish and in Catalan. Pessarodona will also give a lecture on her work in the field of writing and translation.
