12th Catalan Film Festival at the University of Massachusetts Amherst

This October, the Catalan Studies Program at UMass is hosting its 12th Catalan Film Festival! It will be held from October 28 through November 1. This year’s title and theme is: Retorns / Returns / Retornos. There are many ways and forms of return/ing. In this festival, we aim to explore how filmmakers and/or their characters return to their roots, either as migrants or as adventurers of their genealogical past, and the way in which we can return to other states of being, amongst certain types of return.

10/29. Anchor and Hope, dir. Carlos Marqués-Marcet

10/30. Journey to a Mother’s Room, dir. Celia Rico - Introduction and Q&A with the director

10/31. Masterclass with filmmaker Celia Rico.

11/01. The Last Days, dir. Àlex & David Pastor

Original versions w/ English subtitles. Some of the movies are rated R.

Pizza and soda will be available before the screenings.
