Francesc Peirón presents his book Me llamo Nueva York

Literature.  New York, 03/06/2019

Francesc Peirón, La Vanguardia's press correspondent, in conversation with Ana Nieto, will be presenting his book Me llamo Nueva York (My name is New York, 2019), a walk through some of the most picturesque neighborhoods of the Bigg Apple.

The publication follows in the footsteps of E.B. White's classic Here is New York (2003), as well as The New York Times journalist Charlie Le Duff's Work and Other Sins. Life in New York City and Thereabouts (2004).

The characters that inhabit those neighborhoods draw a picture of a city full of energy and life and form an amazing mosaic of realities which not only explain the city, but also show us the most heartfelt part of the human condition.

Francesc Peirón Arqués (Barcelona, 1962) studied journalism at the Universitat Autònoma in Barcelona. He started working as a journalist for La Vanguardia in 1986. He has always been on the front lines of reporting. He began as a specialist in court reporting and current affairs; then he worked the local beat and finally made the leap to foreign correspondent. At that time, he had traveled to many countries, but had never felt a special attraction for the United States. Until, in 1997, he received an invitation to take part in a State Department program. And he discovered America. His final stop was New York, and that was where everything began. In the summer of 2009, he moved to the city, and has since been a correspondent for La Vanguardia based there.
