Lluís Capdevila and Lau Noah at the 3rd Mediterranean JazzFest in New York

Music.  New York, 13/01/2019

After two sold-out editions in the past years at Planeta NYC, the Mediterranean Jazz Fest will be hosted for the first time by Drom.

Five acts from around the Mediterranean will debut brand new material: Magda Giannikou, well known worldwide as the creative mind behind Banda Magda will join forces with Mavrothi Kontanis to present a new project that is firmly rooted in the folk music of their homeland Greece; Lebanese pianist Tarek Yamani will share the stage with Andalusian flamenco phenomenon Antonio Lizana for a very special one time performance; upcoming singer-songwriter and Tiny Desk- finalist Lau Noah will sing brand new songs; Catalan pianist LLuís Capdevila will preview his new album and flamenco-jazz-guitarist Andreas Arnold will conclude the night with the presentation of his upcoming album Odisea. Don't miss this event which will celebrate the diversity and rich musical heritage of the Mediterranean.

6pm Lluís Capdevila (solo piano)
LLuís grew up by the vineyards of El Priorat, close to the Mediterranean Sea (Catalonia, Northeast of Spain). His search for freedom, expression and creativity soon connected him to composing and improvisation. His debut album Diaspora (2016) will soon be followed by his second studio album, Cinematic Radio (2019) which addresses his original music to a wider audience through a material that evokes cinematic moods.

8pm Lau Noah (songs/folk)
The musical tapestry of this upcoming Catalan Singer-Songwriter-Guitarist is a conversation between masterful storytelling, a very personal guitar style, intertwined cultures and a limitless sense of imagination that provide the audience with the capacity to time-travel between their child self and the being they will become when the last song of the show comes to an end.
