Txarango to perform at Glastonbury Festival

The original Sound of Barcelona

Txarango, regarded as a benchmark band in European urban music, was born in the Raval district of Barcelona and stands out as the most remarkable representative of the worldwide known “Barcelona Sound”.  Txarango’s liveshow mixes contemporary and traditional music, Latin rhythms, reggae and dub with virtuosity, energy and force.

The band won two Gold Records and two Impala Records for “Som Riu” and “Benvinguts al Llarg Viatge” even though both album were available for free download on the bands website (where they have registered over 500.000 downloads

The creation of their own Festival,<><> (four sold out editions and over 5.000 people), the building of a cultural centre in Africa, their trips to Palestina and Idomeni to help the refugees and defend their situation, or their many other collaborations with associations and NGO’s, has only increased their prestige, taking the band to become one of Spain's most greatest music values and proving that their music and their project is also a worldwide speaker as well as a tool to promote culture and social change.
They have performed live in 4 continents and over 19 countries, including Mexico, China, Japan and USA. Festivals like Fuji Rock Festival, Summer Stage Festival, Chaoyang Festival or Sound of the Xity. They have toured Europe and participate in festivals like Festa Do Avante in Portugal, Polé Polé Festival or Esperanzah Festival in Belgium, Hiesige & Dosige Festival in Austria, Musicalarue Festival, Festival Du Chant Du Marin or Festival Du Bout du Monde (Orange prize) in France, Stockholm Kultur Festivalen in Sweden or Albizzate Festival or Medimex in Italy among many others. More than 120 gigs with their last album and one of the most award-winning bands of the country.
The new album “El cor de la terra” (DiscMedi, 2017) includes collaborations with The Cat Empire, Manu Chao, Jarabe de Palo, Safari Children's Choir and EKO Camp.
