Lana Trorovsek & Maria Canyigueral in concert

Catalan pianist Maria Canyigueral will be joined by violinist Lana Torovsek for a repertoire of 19th and 20th Century pieces at the Wigmore Hall, one of the most prestigious venues in London for classical music.




Next Monday, 22nd of July, pianist Maria Canyigueral and violinist Lana Trotovsek will be performing at the Wigmore Hall, one of the most prestigious venues in central London. Their latest record, including pieces by Granados, Franck, Finzi and Škerjanc, was awarded the gold medal by the Global Music Awards 2016.

Coincinding with the 250th anniversary of Beethoven in 2020, the repertoire will include pieces from 19th and 20th Century composers, namely:

  • Ludvig van Beethoven (1770-1872)
    Violin Sonata no. 2 in A, Op. 12 no. 2
  • Lucijan Marija Škerjanc (1900-1973)
    Intermezzo Romantique
  • Sergey Prokofiev (1891-1953)
    Violin Sonata no. 1 in F minor, Op. 80
  • Ludvig van Beethoven (1770-1872)
    Violin Sonata no. 9 in A, Op. 47

Lana Trotovsek debuted with the Marrinsky Theatre Orchestra and the prestigious director Valery Gergiev in 2012 and, since then, has performed in several music halls around the world. Additionally, in 2016, she was the soloist of Prokofiev's Concert no. 1 with the London Symphony Orchestra. Her performances have been broadcasted on BBC Radio 3, Arte TV (France) and RTV (Slovenia).

Maria Canyigueral is a Catalan pianist of international prestige. After being awarded in several competitions of international reach, in 2018, with the support from the Institut Ramon Llull and other partners, she premiered her project Avanguarding Mompou at the Conway Hall, in London, which paid homage to Catalan composer Federico Mompou.
