2019 looks like one of the most promising years for the Catalan pop-folk band Els Catarres. With singles such as “Jennifer” or “Fins que arribi l'alba” at around 5 million views on YouTube, this is an unmissable event for anyone with a penchant for vitalist, feel-good music.
With four studio albums to this date, Tots els meus principis (2018), ventures beyond their characteristic acoustic sounds to flirt with electronic music. They have become a contemporary classic in Catalonia, and it is not difficult to see how: they are the epitome of a Mediterranean party —a combination of pop with reggae, bossa-nova and country bring a feeling only comparable to waking up on a sunny day.
At the end of this month, we will have the opportunity of seeing them live in one of the leading clubs in London, Scala, and at Dublin's famous venue The Grand Social. For them, the two capitals are “culturally inspiring” places, as revealed on an interview (in Spanish) for Rock Sin Subtítulos, in case you needed one more reason!
