Ada for Mayor (Alcaldessa), Dir. Pau Faus, 2016, 88 mins, Spanish and Catalan with English subtitles

Ada Colau, a well-known activist against evictions in Spain, decides to run for Mayor of Barcelona. Surrounded by a team with little experience in institutional politics, Colau candidly shares the doubts and thoughts arising from her foray into mainstream politics. The film combines the enthusiasm surrounding the construction of a new political movement with the inner struggle of someone who fears becoming part of the power structure she has so often critiqued.

Ada for Mayor (Alcaldessa) premiered in April 2016 and has since been touring worldwide. In Spain, the film was among the most watched documentaries of the year and received prestigious awards, including best director in the Málaga Film Festival and the Gaudí Award for best documentary by the Catalan Film Academy.

With the collaboration of Institut Ramon Llull.

This London premiere is followed by a Q&A with director Pau Faus.
