Catalan Poetry Symposium

Jaume Subirana (Barcelona, 1963) writer, has a PhD in Catalan Language and Literature. He has been an assistant professor at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, visiting professor at Duke University, lecturer in Barcelona for the Global Studies program at Trinity College (USA), and professor at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. From September of 2004 is the director of the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes.

He has published poetry, fiction, and essay, and has won awards such as the Carles Riba for poetry or the Ferran Soldevila for biography. He has translated Seamus Heaney, Ray Bradbury, Jay McInerney and Marguerite Duras into Catalan. He blogs at Flux ( jaumesubirana.blogspot.com ).
