ALIMENT

pop i rock  //  punk, rock, garage

Albert Guàrdia

José Punkrock and María Garage decided to adopt the three kids from Aliment, a Girona-based trio. Aliment’s previous recordings (their self-published demo, a split with Furguson on La Castanya and a three-track EP for Discos Humeantes) had already shown that they were ready to take garage punk rock to another level, but it was with Holy Slip that the band found that brilliant finishing touch that denotes that promise has been fulfilled. Having emerged thanks to the stir created by such Spanish bands as Mujeres and Juanita y los Feos, Aliment became firmly established as one of the most interesting groups on the State punk rock scene with a powerful set of tracks recorded at the Ultramarinos Costa Brava studio in Sant Feliu de Guíxols. These new songs, written and recorded with closed fists and a sweaty brow, show Aliment to be in close communion with such contemporary friends and fellow frenzied melody merchants as Thee Oh Sees, Jay Reatard and Wavves, as well as older sounds, such as those we heard with Adolescents, Circle Jerks and even The Sonics.
