BARCELONA BIG LATIN BAND

With a career spanning over ten years, three albums and more than a hundred concerts, the Barcelona Big Latin Band has become a reference for Latin jazz in Spain. Formed by some of out country’s finest jazz and Latin jazz performers and led by the pianist and composer Ramon Escalé, the ensemble members have always been keen to take on new challenges. In 2007, the Cruïlla de Cultures Festival commissioned the band to build a show with Omara Portuondo, whilst this year they will open the Grec Festival in Barcelona. In 2008, the Barcelona Big Latin Band presented a special show featuring a repertoire inspired by the legendary figure of the Catalan musician Xavier Cugat. The Big Latin Band currently play monthly shows at Jamboree have become known as the Jamboree Big Latin Band, fusing the name of this outstanding ensemble with that of the renowned Barcelona venue.
