BERNAT FONT TRIO
jazz // blues, boogie woogie, ragtime, swing
The young pianist Bernat Font loves and studies what we might call “old piano” sounds. His style combines early blues, boogie-woogie and ragtime with pure swing from the mid-20th century: Jelly Roll Morton, Art Tatum, Oscar Peterson and, above all, Erroll Garner. However, tradition should not anchor a musician down, but provide the ingredients with which to find an authentic form of expression. Accordingly, building on blues and swing foundations, this trio has developed a repertoire that is full of energy and sincerity, stripped of all unnecessary complications. Completing the band and adding solidity and cohesion are two outstanding, powerful musicians whose services are in constant demand: Ivan Kovačević on double bass and Martí Elias on drums.
