A five-time winner of awards from the Association of Jazz and Modern Music as best pianist and/or keyboards player, Joan Díaz surprised audiences and critics alike four years ago with We Sing Bill Evans. He followed this album with Benestar/Peaceful, his first solo piano effort in which he teams up with Perico Sambeat (2010). Díaz has worked with a long list of ensembles and has recorded with musicians like Randy Brecker, Michael Mossman, John Mosca, Robin Eubanks, Dennis Rowland, Theo Bleckman, Chris Kase, Allan Skidmore, Jorge Rossy, Peer Wyboris, Jordi Bonell, Juan Mungía, Adam Colker, Bob Sands, Perico Sambeat, Chris Higgins, Omer Avital, Gary Willis, Jeff Fuczinsky, Kirk Covington, Armand Sabal·lecco, Horacio “El Negro”, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Dick Oatts and many more.  Particularly interesting are his latest collaboration with flamenco guitarist Niño Josele and his work as an arranger of Evans’ music for big band, as well as his partnership with director Cesc Gay, which has led him to compose the soundtracks for such films as Hotel Room, In the City and V.O.S.
