MIQUEL GIL
cantautor, folk i músiques del món // mediterranean
Gil is a talented artist, his work striking yet difficult to label. Evasive, erratic, disturbing… In the eighties he left Al Tall, ten years after the group was founded, in order to breathe other airs and to transgress the limits of folk, exploring the paths of fusion, a less-trodden territory in those days. Gil has studied Mediterranean polyphony and the scales of Valencian song. Poetry, tradition and curiosity. Do not repeat yourself, follow your quest, do what your heart tells you, sing fandangos and sing Martian tunes, but always be true to yourself. His latest album, X marcianes, includes adaptations of traditional songs and lyrics by such poets as Vicent Andrés Estellés and Enric Cassasses.
