ORQUESTRA ÀRAB DE BARCELONA
folk i músiques del món, mestissatge // mediterranean
The days pass, and the Orquesta Árabe de Barcelona, led and conducted by Mohamed Soulimane, perform around the world. The orchestra works with such very different artists as like Omar Faruk, Lucrecia, Paco Ibáñez and Omar Sosa; they become the resident ensemble at L’Auditori de Barcelona; they release three albums; they study and they experiment, from their Arab roots, with new rhythms and Mediterranean arrangements; they put the poetry of Jacint Verdaguer to music; they write lyrics in Arabic, Catalan, Spanish and English; they produce a show for children.
For a career spanning 2,920 days or, to put it another way, 8 years, working and developing non-stop, is fertile ground for growth. Towards the end of 2012, this “Arab Orchestra of Barcelona” gave a special concert to celebrate their eighth anniversary.
