experimental / contemporània, pop i rock // avant-garde rock, radical improvisation of collective music, contemporary rock
Mireia Tejero, saxophonist, composer and performer, has been the driving force behind several multidisciplinary groups in which the creative role of women is highlighted particularly. She regularly composes music for the Sol Picó dance company. She founded Las Reinas showband. She has led such women’s ensembles as Las Gambas and La Orquesta de Tacón, as well as avant-garde bands like Alius (one of the most outstanding cult bands in Spain, which present their new repertoire in 2013), the experimental rock trio Sua and the improvised music collective M.I.S (Moviment d'Insurrecció Sonora). M.I.S. are a heterogeneous group bent on creating their own musical language by fusing collective improv techniques in a spirit of freedom, play and the search for the most authentic expression. Sua are a constantly-evolving all-female trio whose music fuses free jazz and the most contemporary rock sounds.
