PANTANITO
flamenc i rumba // neocalorrismo
Founded in 2002, this group’s origins lie in the Barcelona underground at a time when the Catalan capital was reviving such urban sounds as the rumba, though in fusion form, intoxicated by reggae, punk stances and black music. This was when José Antonio Bejarano appeared on the scene to deliver his own interpretation of things, influenced by the raunchiest sounds from the seventies. And so it was that, through Pantanito, Los Chichos and Los Chunguitos gave way to neocalorrismo, an updated reading of quinqui music. Flamenco-based rumba with funky seventies wah-wah electric guitar. New arrangements that fail to conceal the emergence of an outstanding singer-songwriter. Pantanito is preparing, during 2013, their fourth album, which will feature such tracks as Las cosas, Canciones en los barrios, El gatopardo, Estoy buscando and Sin ná dená, new recordings of songs that will already be familiar to their live audiences.
