From the first, Mayte Martín has championed her own transgressive philosophy and concept of her profession within the world of flamenco music. As a result, thanks to her personal artist approach and unique discourse, she is now considered a pioneer and outstanding figure in so-called Catalan flamenco and an important role model for up-and-coming young flamenco performers. Martín has worked with the likes of Tete Montoliu, Belén Maya, Omara Portuondo and Dulce Pontes, receiving countless prizes and plaudits over the course of her long career, both from flamenco circles and the world of music and culture in general.
