CARLES SANTOS
experimental / contemporània //
Composer, pianist and multi-faceted artist. At first, having trained at the Liceu Conservatory, his repertoire focused on performances of works by Bartók, Schoenberg and Webern. However, his meeting with John Cage in the United States in the late-sixties marked a turning-point in his career. Towards the end of the eighties, Santos made another important career change, combining theatrical and musical elements to create shows in which music, theatre and dance are fused with costume and lighting to produce spectacles that defy classification. Santos has received many prizes, including the National Prize for Music. In 2012, he premiered the production Maquinofòbia Pianolera, a collaboration with CaboSanRoque with which he continues to tour in Spain and Europe. In 2013, he presented his new version of his own concert for solo piano.
