The (S) Movies: Contemporary Spanish Cinema International Conference is to be held from 12th to 17th December 2011 in New York City. The main objective of this international conference is to analyze Spanish along with Catalan cinema over the past two decades. The four filmmakers chosen to present the theoretic background underpinning the conference come from four different generations: they are the Catalans Isaki Lacuesta and Pere Portabella, as well as Víctor Erice and José Luis Guerín.

(S) Movies is part of the programme of events for the dissemination of Spanish culture being held by the Consulate General of Spain in New York, and with the support of the Institut Ramon Llull for the dissemination of Catalan cinema.

The programme includes conferences, papers, round tables, dialogues with directors and screenings of feature films and short film cycles. These events are designed to analyze the keys features defining the evolution of Spanish cinema over the past 20 years, and to spot new trends within the international panorama of contemporary cinema.
