28/07/2025

The folk and world music festival Dranouter, a key event in the Belgian summer that welcomes over 50,000 visitors each year, is featuring a Focus Catalunya this year, with performances by six Catalan artists. The support of the Institut Ramon Llull, the Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies, and the Fira Mediterrània de Manresa has made the focus possible.

The musical line-up for Focus Catalunya at the Dranouter Festival, a benchmark event for folk and world music, includes well-known names from the Catalan scene, such as El Pony Pisador, Joan Garriga & el Mariatxi Galàctic, Gregotechno, Muyayo Rif and Balkan Paradise Orchestra. The programme is complemented by the street games Els Recicloperats,, by the company Katakrak, aimed at children and families.

On Friday 1 August, the opening day of the festival, Balkan Paradise Orchestra will launch the Catalan showcase with their irresistible energy on stage. The night will continue with a performance by Gregotechno in the circus tent from 10 p.m.

On Saturday 2 August, Joan Garriga i el Mariatxi Galàctic will take to the castle stage in Dranouter at 3 p.m. Later in the afternoon, from 6 p.m., Muyayo Rif will perform in the Circus space.

Finally, on Sunday at 2.30 p.m., El Pony Pisador will bring their music to the castle surroundings.

Meanwhile, the Katakrak recycled games circuit will be available to the public throughout the three days of the festival.

In addition, the Institut Català de les Empreses Culturals (Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC)), through its internationalisation brand Catalan Arts, is organising a networking event to provide a space for the participating Catalan professionals and artists to share projects and explore future collaborations with international professionals attending the festival.

The Institut Ramon Llull has supported the inclusion of Catalan artists in the line-up. The Fira Mediterrània, as part of its internationalisation efforts, has collaborated on the programming of the Catalan focus at the Dranouter Festival. Part of the Dranouter Festival team visited the Fira in 2024, where the organisation of this Focus was agreed.
