Art Omi, located near Ghent in the state of New York, has operated as a residency since 1992 and offers five distinct residency programmes, one for each discipline: writing, music, dance, art, and architecture.
During their stay, ten artists live together at the residency and take part in community activities, fostering the spirit of exchange that characterises Art Omi. The programme includes a weekly itinerary of visits with New York’s publishing community, providing opportunities to connect with editors, agents, and literary scouts.
Two places are available, in two separate periods: from 18 September to 19 October, and from 23 October to 13 November 2025.
This call forms part of a new line of in-kind and non-competitive grants for undertaking international residencies at centres with which the Institut Ramon Llull has a collaboration agreement. Thanks to these agreements, artists and authors from the Catalan artistic and cultural sphere can take part in strategic residencies across all disciplines. The in-kind grant covers accommodation, board, and the organisation of the residency. Calls have already been published for participation at Château de Lavigny, Casamia, and LCB.
Applications must be sent to eramadan@artomi.org and must include the following documentation:
- Cover letter in English.
- Description of the project to be undertaken during the residency, written in English and of between 3 and 5 pages.
- Excerpt from a published or unpublished work (in Catalan and translated into English), between 5 and 10 pages.
- List of publications and CV in English.
A jury of representatives from Art Omi will select the residents based on the following criteria:
- Applicants must have at least one original literary work published in Catalan under their sole authorship, in one of the following genres: fiction, poetry, theatre, non-fiction, and children’s or young adult literature.
- The relevance of the project to the host institution’s lines of activity. Consideration will be given to how the project aligns with the residency centre’s creative priorities, linguistic fluency, ability to integrate with other residents, willingness to exchange and interact with fellow residents and guests, and readiness to participate in post-residency activities.
- The relevance, interest, and quality of the proposed project. Evaluation will consider the strength and feasibility of the project, the themes addressed, and the quality of the writing.
- The applicant’s track record or experience. Consideration will be given to previous publications, education, and any accolades received.
Full details of the call are available on the Art Omi website.
