The renowned KSV theatre in Brussels is staging Terra Baixa by Àngel Guimerà, one of the most emblematic dramatic works of Catalan theatre. Under the direction of Carme Portaceli, the production of dramatist Pablo Ley’s adaptation is being headed by the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya (TNC). The play can be seen on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th of May, at 20:00 in the evening at the KVS.
Making the most of this classic of Catalan theatre’s appearance on stage, the Institut Ramon Llull has spearheaded a meeting of performing arts professionals at the KVS titled ‘Brussels & Barcelona, cities of the future.’ This intercultural exchange aims to tackle some of the most relevant contemporary questions surrounding the creation of theatrical works with three roundtable discussions on the topics of ‘Multilingualism’, ‘Global Cities, New Identities’ and ‘Theatre of Text versus Theatre of Creation.’ The participants in the event will all be professionals with relevant experience in the contemporary theatre scene.
The Koninklijke Vlaamse Schouwburg (KVS) is one of Europe’s key centres of creation and exhibition. Under the direction of Michael de Cock, the current artistic director, the theatre thus promotes artistic and cultural exchanges, both locally as well as internationally.
