40 performing arts professionals visit the Llull during the Grec Pro international days

Performing.  Barcelona, 05/07/2022

On Tuesday, July 5th, forty performing arts professionals visited the Institut Ramon Llull as part of the Grec Pro, the meeting for international programmers organised by the summer festival in Barcelona, which this year gets back to an on-site edition from July 4th to the 8th, 2022.

The attendees of the meeting got to know first-hand the Institut Ramon Llull premises, as well as its mission to internationalise Catalan culture, on the 20th anniversary of the institution. Pere Almeda, director of IRL, stated the following during the act: “We want exchange and dialogue: our main task is supporting the internationalisation of arts”.

The director also highlighted the relevance of the Grec as “one of the main showcases to enjoy the more interesting and successful Catalan artistic proposals of the moment”; and he wanted to spotlight the value of the job developed by the Llull for twenty years, “two decades where we haven’t stopped working for the internationalisation of our culture; years of great intensity and work done to become and join projects and artistic proposals within multiple scenarios and showcases”.

According to Almeda, the Llull internationalisation mission should be able to “spread as much as possible our message, our agenda and our actions”. “Internationalisation means having your own voice within the debate on the main global agenda themes, as well as being present in the various contemporary dialogue spaces: the feminist agenda, the energy transition, the digital transformation, the disturbing raise of authoritarianism, the threats to democracy, and the great challenges of sustainability”.

The event, which took place at the sala Rosselló of the Palau del Baró de Quadras, counted with the presence of Pere Almeda, IRL’s director; Maria Lladó, chief of the IRL Creation Area; Maria Basora, chief of the ICEC market Area; and Elisenda Farré Secall from the Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics. The event ended with the performance of Lali Ayguadé.

Grec Pro, an international date

From July 4th to the 8th, more than 160 registered participants from around the world are taking part in the Grec Pro, a date that includes: presentations and informative sessions on issues related to the sector such as accessibility, sustainability, international mobility, and cultural diversity; presentations of all the projects included in the Grec Festival Barcelona 2022; as well as guided tours to the facilities.

Besides the visits, programmers will be able to assist to various shows programmed within the festival. Also, during the professional programme days they will be able to discover the proposals by the Catalan companies Insectotròpics (Orpheus), Ponten Pie (Bajau), Atresbandes (Aspecte global d’una questió), as well as various co-productions from the Festival Grec, and the show Ofèlia (Panic Attack) by Àlex Rigola.
