Cinema.  New York, 09/09/2020

The 58th edition of the prestigious festival will be held between September 17 and October 11 at the Lincoln Center in New York. The four films with Catalan production have been selected in the new 'Currents' section, which includes 14 feature films and 46 short films, representing 28 countries, and draws an image of current independent cinema with an emphasis on new forms and the most innovative voices. The section presents a diverse offer of short and feature films by artists working at the forefront of cinema.

The documentary feature film My Mexican Bretzel, by Núria Giménez Lorang (Bretzel & Tequila), lands in New York after passing through the main international and national festivals and achieving awards and recognitions.

The letters filmed between the Catalan filmmaker Carla Simón and the Chilean Dominga Sotomayor, Correspondences, produced by Goroka for Televisió de Catalunya, continues to cultivate new selections after its world premiere at Visions du Réel and the recent selection in San Sebastián.

The New York nomination of The Year of the Discovery, Luis López Carrasco's second feature film (La Cima Producciones, Alina Film, Magnética Creative Lab and Cromagnon Producciones) joins a long list of festivals that demonstrate the spectacular and risky audiovisual commitment of the movie.

After its selection at the Malaga Film Festival, the short film A Revolt Without Images by Pilar Monsell and produced by Proxémica will participate in one of the short programs of the New York Film Festival to show its powerful narrative about history facts without any kind of image.
