The microstories will be published on the IRLats website as they are received from participants using the online form. To enter the contest, participants must be studying Catalan outside Catalan-speaking areas and not be native Catalan speakers, preferably from the University Network of Catalan Studies Abroad. Each participant may only enter one microstory, which must be original, unpublished, written in Catalan and not exceed 400 characters.

This year, we are celebrating the birth of Joan Brossa and, in order to pay tribute to him, the contest will be dedicated to poetry, word play and magic.

Brossa was a poet in the broadest sense of the word, as he created all sorts of poetry (literary, performing, visual, object and urban), in an act of creative freedom. 
For Joan Brossa, there were no genres or borders between the arts. Anything was valid in expressing a reality. Through games and transformation, the poet opens up a world where things are not what they seem. 
Brossa said “The important things are learned but not taught” and he was committed to teaching through discovery. This philosophy has inspired this year’s IRLats Contest held by Institut Ramon Llull.

This initiative is part of the Institut Ramon Llull lines of action to promote the teaching of Catalan language and culture at universities abroad.
