Literature.  Mexico, 27/11/2018

The authors will give talks and participate in other activities during the week‑long fair. Lara, a fiction writer and journalist, is the author of six books, foremost among them the Serra d'Or Critics' Award-winning Mística conilla (Naked Mysticism). Marc Pastor is a crime and fantasy writer, whose four novels have been translated into several languages. The film adaptation of his L'any de la plaga (The Year of the Plague) premiered at this year's Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival.

On Thursday, November 29, Jordi Lara will deliver a talk as part of the Echoes of FIL program, through which authors introduce their work to younger audiences. Lara will also be involved in the International Short Story Writers' Conference on December 1 alongside Valeria Correa Fiz, Teolinda Gersão and Daniel Salinas. Meanwhile, Marc Pastor will offer an 'echo session' of his own at the Plantel El Arenal school, before joining Juan Bolea, Miguel Miranda and Francisco G. Haghenbeck for A Trip Through Contemporary Noir, a panel discussion on crime novels on December 1.

On November 13 and 14, a specialist publishing industry course was held at the University of Guadalajara, featuring a series of lectures revolving around the Mexican and Catalan publishing industries. Participating students will be able to further their education by attending panel discussions, talks and forums organized within the FIL's professional program. Similarly, a stand at the fair will showcase Catalonia’s  flourishing publishing sector from November 27 to 29, with a wide range of publishing houses and other organizations set to be represented.

The Guadalajara International Book Fair, which will take place from November 24 to December 2, is the top publishing gathering in Latin America and the largest book fair in the Spanish-speaking world. As well as being a hotspot for selling rights to the leading literary agents and distributors from the Americas, it also features a buzzing festival for the general public, where books and authors take pride of place.
