Since the Art Omi: Writers – Ledig House programme was created, 25 years ago, more than 100 authors from 50 different countries have been welcomed. Ledig House, which offers accommodation, food and workspace, is in the village of Omi, on the banks of the Hudson River, two and a half hours from New York City. The aim of the competition has remained the same over the years: to publish the work of the invited writers and to encourage cultural and creative international exchange between the participants.
With the collaboration of the IRL, during the spring and autumn of 2018 the programme will take in two authors in Catalan literature, who will not be able to stay there at the same time. A maximum of 10 writers from around the world will be at the residency, where individual and group activities are organized and an atmosphere conducive to the dissemination of the participants’ work will be created.
The requirement for being able to present your candidacy for the programme is to have at least one original work of literature published in Catalan (with exclusive authorship), whether fiction, poetry, drama, non-fiction or children’s and young adult literature. Catalans chosen in previous editions include Gemma Gorga, Francesc Serés, Sebastià Alzamora and Marina Espasa.
