Pere Villalba, professor emeritus of Classical Philology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the author of the study Ramon Llull: Life and Works, will be taking part in a conversation about the Majorcan thinker along with José Meirinhos, professor of Medieval Philosophy at the University of Porto. It will be moderated by Celia López, doctor of Philosophy by the Autonomous University of Barcelona. After the conversation there will be a reading in Portuguese and Catalan of verses from Ramon Llull’s Llibre d’Amic e Amat. The event will be held in the Livraria Santiago in Óbidos.
Joan Margarit will recite some of the poems from his collection Misteriosament feliç (Mysteriously Happy) at Tenda Mais. It was translated from Catalan into Portuguese by Miguel Filipe Mochile and published in 2015 by the Portuguese publishing house Lingua Morta. Besides the events of the festival, Joan Margarit will offer a second poetry recital on 1st November in Lisbon, at the Casa Fernando Pessoa.
Lastly, Joaquim Nadal, former Minister of Territorial Policy and Public Works in the Generalitat de Catalunya, will be talking to the Portuguese professor and politician António José Seguro on the subject of “Utopia and Democracy”. The conversation will take place in the Pousada do Castelo and will be moderated by the writer José Manuel Diogo.
