The turn of the 20th Century saw the flowering of the Modernisme movement in Barcelona and a flourishing of music across Spain. Much of this concert will be entirely new to listeners, but will captivate the ear upon first hearing.

Erato Piano Trio is rapidly establishing a reputation as one of the UK’s leading young ensembles praised for their virtuosity, outstanding musicianship and stylistic versatility. The multi-awarded ensemble present Granados Chamber Music on 25 November in St Martin-in-the-Fields. This event is one of the flagship Granados centenary concerts and other events taking place across the UK this Autumn.  

Pre-eminent guitarist Carles Trepat marks the Granados centenary with a programme based on his 2015 album 'Granados-Llobet, 100 anys d'un viatge', exploring the relationship between the two Catalan composers Enric Granados and Miguel Llobet. The concert takes place on Thursday 17 November at St Peter’s Eaton Square, London.

Fresh from his 'impassioned and eloquent performance' (New York Classical Review) at Carnegie Hall in March 2016, pre-eminent Catalan virtuoso pianist José Menor continues his worldwide tour performing ‘Goyescas’, to mark the centenary of the great Catalan composer, Enrique Granados (1867-1916). 

“Enrique Granados’ letters (1892-1916)” (Barcelona: Editorial Boileau, 2016, 528 p.) consists of the gathering, chronological ordering and critical editing of 506 letters written by Catalan composer Enrique (Enric) Granados or addressed to him by his immediate family circle or by prestigious figures of both Spanish and international cultural and musical history.  

Enric Granados (1867-1916) spent the final months of his life in New York. His visit to the United States included some of the most important artistic triumphs of his life—the World Premiere of his opera, GOYESCAS, at the Metropolitan Opera, solo and chamber music recitals with cellist Pau Casals, recordings for the Duo-Art Reproducing Piano, the premiere of his symphonic poem, DANTE, by the Chicago Symphony, and a recital at the White House.
