Book launch: Mercè Rodoreda's Death in Spring

The launch event for Mercè Rodoreda's Death in Spring will start at 7.30pm on 29 May at the Tate Modern in London. Colm Tóibín and Catalan writer Najat El Hachmi will both be participating in the event to read and discuss fragments of Death in Spring, followed by a musical performance. Death in Spring (translated by Martha Tennent and Introduction by Colm Tóibín) was published by world-renowned Penguin on 5 April 2018. Institute Ramon Llull have collaborated in this project.

Teresa Solana at Ullapool Book Festival 2018

Catalan novelist Teresa Solana will be at Ullapool Book Festival on Saturday, 12 May 2018 at 3:30pm, in a joint session with Gaelic author John D Urquhart. Simultaneous translation by Peter Bush (Catalan to English) and Morag Stewart (Gaelic to English) will be provided.

Talk by Matthew Tree: "Catalonia and how it got that way"

The Cambridge University Catalan Society will host a talk by Matthew Tree, English writer resident in Catalonia, on May 15 at 4:30pm at the Bowett Room at Queen's College in Cambridge. The talk will be followed by the announcement of the winners of the Floral Games, and an informal dinner at the Mill.

The Centre for Catalan Studies at Queen Mary University London and La Seca Espai Brossa, in collaboration with  Fundació Joan Brossa, and Pocio (Poesia i Acció), and with the support of Institute Ramon Llull, have organised a two-day event in celebration of the works of Joan Brossa, Catalan poet, playwriter and visual artist.
