Sant Jordi at Borough Market - Sunday 24 April

Sant Jordi / St George is celebrated both in England and Catalonia. In recognition of this, the Catalan Government and organisations join up once again with London Borough Market to present a festive day of food, arts, roses and books on Sunday 24 April 2016 from 12pm to 4pm. Newham Bookshop will join us once again with a book stall with translations of Catalan literature. Free event, all welcome!

Marcos Morau and Les 7 doigts de la main at Sadler's Wells as part of TRIPTYQUE project

Contemporary circus trailblazers The 7 Fingers (Les 7 doigts de la main) present a triple bill of dance and circus, a collaboration with some of the world’s most cutting-edge contemporary choreographers. The Barcelona-based choreographer Marcos Morau (La Veronal) takes part of this project, alongside the Canadien Marie Chouinard and Mexican - American dancer Victor Quijada.

Catalan Literature at the London Book Fair

The Institut Ramon Llull will take part in The London Book Fair this year from 12 to 14 April 2016 where we present Catalan literature from classics to exciting new authors, as well as our grants to support it, to UK and international publishers. Attendance at such fairs is one of the most important professional activities of the IRL in support of our mission to promote Catalan language and culture abroad.

Atresbandes and Little Soldier Productions Premiere their new work at HOME

Multi-awarded Catalan company Atresbandes present the World Premiere premiere of their new piece 'All In' at HOME, in Manchester from 14 to 16 April. The work is a co-production with Festival TNT – Terrassa Noves Tendències/CAET, Barcelona, comissioned by HOME as part of ¡Viva! Spanish & Latin American Festival 2016. Little Soldier Productions will also premiere their new piece as part of this season from 7 to 9 April.

Nueva Vulcano and Betunizer at All Tomorrow Parties Festival

Barcelona-based band Nueva Vulcano and Valencian Betunizer are coming to the UK in April as part of the the world famous ATP 2.0 Music Festival series presents from 22 to 24 April Manchester. 25 international acts have been confirmed so far in this edition curated by Drive Like Jehu.

Catalan Language Certificates 2016

You can new enrol for Catalan language tests in 14 universities in the UK and Ireland and receive a formal qualification for your level. The Catalan language certificates awarded by the Institut Ramon Llull correspond to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Register online from 1 March to 25 April 2016 for exams this May.

Translate in the City: Literary Translation Short Course at City University of London includes Catalan into English

The City University of London is organising a Literary Translation Short Course from 11 to 15 July that offers the opportunity to translate texts across the literary genres into English, working with leading professional translators. Catalan is offered for the first time with the support of the Institut Ramon Llull and translator Peter Bush will be the course tutor. Applicants for Catalan will have the possibility of receiving bursaries for a part of the tuition fees.
