Sant Jordi / St George is celebrated both in England and Catalonia. In recognition of this, Catalan Government organisations and friends join up once again with London Borough Market to present a festive day of food, arts, roses and books on Sunday 26 April from 12pm to 4pm. Newham Books will bring us some of the finest translations of Catalan literature this year.

Institut Ramon Llull will take part in The London Book Fair this year from 14 to 16 April where we present Catalan literature from classics to exciting new authors to UK and international publishers. Attendance at such fairs is one of the most important professional activities of the IRL in support of our mission to promote Catalan language and culture abroad.

Orfeó Català will perform two concerts in London in April. The historic choir will play a concert at the Royal Festival Hall on 25 April along with the Cor de Cambra del Palau de la Música Catalana, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Choir, under the direction of Tomáš Netopil, interpreting the Glagolitic Mass by Leoš Janáňek. Also in London, Orfeó Català will offer a solo concert of choral music at Cadogan Hall on 26 April under the umbrella of the Choral Festival at Cadogan. On the same day, after this performance, Orfeó Català will go to Borough Market, where they will close the Sant Jordi celebration at 4pm.

Having previously been a hit at The Great Escape and Liverpool Sound City, pop-rock band Mishima come back to the UK to present their latest album, 'L'Ànsia que cura' with Rock Sin Subtítulos. Don't miss the chance to see this internationally renowed band at Scala on Saturday 25 April.

The Cork World Book Fest is a unique celebration of books and readings that takes place in Cork from 21 to 25 April at the city’s Central Library and the Triskel Arts Centre. Ten years after its first celebration, this vibrant Festival will host the launch of a new translation of Josep Pla’s 'La Vida Amarga' by award winning translator Peter Bush.

Film director and actress Sílvia Munt will join us on Tuesday 28 April for the UK Premiere of her film El Cafè de la Marina (The Marina Cafe), based on the play by Josep Maria de Sagarra set in a fishing village in the early 20th century. Part of Catalan Avant-Garde season, organised by the ICA, the Institut Ramon Llull and Reel Solutions.

You can now enrol for Catalan language tests in 15 universities in the UK and Ireland and receive a formal qualification for your level. The Catalan language certificates awarded by the Institut Ramon Llull correspond to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Enrolment until 14 April 2014.
Culture.  Birmingham,  01/04/2015
Call for paper for a two-day interdisciplinary conference that seeks to foster dialogue about the incorporation of digital technologies in poetic and artistic practices in Catalonia, from the 1970s onwards. Suggestions for 20-minute papers in English, Spanish and Catalan are invited before 30 April 2015. The conference will take place on 18 and 19 June at the University of Birmingham.

The Anglo-Catalan Society is calling for papers about any aspect of Catalan Culture to be presented at the annual conference that will take place at the University of Glasgow from 13 to 15 November 2015. The deadline to send proposals is 1 July 2015.
