Tate Modern presents the first major survey in the UK of maverick filmmaker Albert Serra, a powerful and unique voice in contemporary cinema. Serra’s vivid and subversive work draws on the history of literature and art. The Albert Serra season will include ‘Singularity’, a unique preview of his in-development project commissioned by the Institut Ramon Llull for the Catalan participation at the forthcoming 56th Venice Art Biennale.

In his award-winning debut film 'Otel·lo', Catalan director Hammudi al Rahmoun Font channels Shakespeare's 'Othello' to engage with and critique cinema's 'Masters' Orson Wells and Alfred Hitchcock. Winner of Best European Independent Film, ECU - European Independent Film Festival 2013. Director Hammudi al Rahmoun Font comes to the UK to present his film in Durham, Sheffield, London and Cambridge from 2 to 6 March.

MOURN is a very young quartet formed from the friendship of Jazz Rodríguez Bueno and Carla Pérez Vas, both born in 1996 in El Maresme, Catalonia. Inspired by PJ Harvey, Patti Smith, Sebadoh and Sleater Kinney, MOURNE is a brilliant treatise of indie rock that has stunned those who have had the opportunity to hear it. They now come to London to present their first album at Birthdays on 11 March.

While developing their respective independent careers and styles, singer Judit Neddermann and pianist Clara Peya have come together to form a duet that entangles the soft and yet extremely powerful voice of Judit Neddermann with the intense music of pianist Clara Peya. An intimate concert with Mediterranean flavour, a blend of jazz, folk and pop in Cardiff on 20 March and Bristol on 23 March.

Els Amics de les Arts belong to the new wave of Catalan folk-pop. Their songs are short stories made with simple melodies, touches of electronic music, wordplay and lots of irony. The band come to the UK to present their latest album Només d’entrar hi ha sempre el dinosaure in Dublin, Manchester and London from 25 to 28 March.

The ICA, the Institut Ramon Llull (IRL) and Reel Solutions are delighted to present Catalan Avant-Garde, a series of rarely seen new and recent Catalan films from February to December 2015. The season will include UK premieres of El Cafè de la Marina (2014) directed by Sílvia Munt and Born (2014) directed by Claudio Zulian.
