Barcelona International Dance Exchange (BIDE) Satellite New York!

BIDE is an international platform for networking and exchange for professional choreographers, dancers, and performers. BIDE gathers professionals from the performing arts field and facilitates a structure for artistic exchange through a unique form of the laboratory, called B>lab. BIDE hosts three programs annually, throughout Europe and America: lab-meetings, B>residencies, and conferences.

The aim of Barcelona International Dance Exchange (BIDE) is to create a platform for exchange where dance artists experiment, share ideas, create and collaborate in a non-hierarchical and open-minded way. BIDE is also an opportunity for dialogue and to build connections that spark artistic collaboration beyond the platform.

In July 2017, BIDE is excited to partner with Gibney Dance for its first-ever Satellite lab-meeting in the US, with the support of the Institut Ramon Llull (Catalan Language and Culture Abroad) and Catalan Arts, the Government of Catalonia’s Ministry of Culture brand used for the international promotion of Catalan creative and cultural companies.

This unique event between BIDE and Gibney Dance offers participants a space to work together to exchange, develop, and create approaches to dance, and to find new inspirations and collaborations for artistic work.

BIDE/NY will be a gathering of 30-40 international artists with different backgrounds and experiences. Participants should have a mutual interest in developing, researching and exchanging ideas in dance. We will offer a structure of daily changing laboratories to support a non-hierarchical atmosphere of meeting and sharing ideas, holding auditions and showing the work to each other.
