Narcís Comadira.

Narcís Comadira (Girona, 1942) is a writer and a painter. He studied Philology at the University of Barcelona and he got a degree in Art History. He was a lector at the University of London , and, for two school years, a professor at the School of Architecture of Barcelona . He writes cultural journalism, collaborating on the Catalan notebook for the newspaper El País and with the magazine Descobrir Catalunya , where he illustrates his own texts. He also collaborates on a weekly basis with a radio program.

His first books of poems are gathered together in La llibertat i el terror. Poesia 1970-1980 (Edicions 62, 1981). He later published Enigma (1985), En quarantena (1990), which won the City of Barcelona award, the Lletra d'Or and the Critics' awards, followed by Usdefruit (1995), Lírica lleugera (2000) and L 'art de la fugida (2002). Formes de l'ombra. Poesia 1966-2002 (2002) is a collection of all of his works of poetry published so far. He has also written and put on works for the theatre: La vida perdurable (1992), L 'hora dels adéus (1995) and El dia dels morts. Un oratori per a Josep Pla (1997).

He has also published prose: Girona. Matèria i memòria (1989), is a sentimental portrait of the city of his birth. Fòrmules magistrals (1997) is a group of texts about the cultural values of gastronomy. Sense escut (1998) is a collection of articles and talks about cultural and linguistic subjects, and L 'ànima dels poetes (2002) brings together texts about poetry and about some poets.

As a translator of poetry, he is the author of an extensive two-volume anthology : Poesia italiana . De Francesco d'Assisi a Giacomo Leopardi (1985) and Poesia italiana contemporània (1990). He also translated Digue'm la veritat sobre l'amor , by W. H. Auden (1997), and has just published his complete version of the Canti de Giacomo Leopardi (2004).
