The Institut Ramon Llull and the Fundació Antoni Tàpies present a discussion at New York University on the work of the Catalan artist, in celebration of the publication in the U.S. of the second and final volume of Tàpies' complete works in English. The work is a co-edition of the Fundació Antoni Tàpies and the American academic publishing house Indiana University Press.

In 2009, the Institut Ramon Llull and the Fundació Antoni Tàpies collaborated on the presentation of the first volume of the complete works (composed of autobiographical texts by the artist) at the DIA Art Foundation's museum in Beacon, New York.

To mark the publication in English of the last volume of the complete written works of Antoni Tàpies, a seminar of experts on his work has been organized at New York University's Institute of Fine Arts. The discussion will address how critical reception to his work has changed in the United States since his first exhibition at the Martha Jackson Gallery in 1953, to the recent exhibition at DIA:Beacon. Also explored will be the reception of Tàpies' work in the European context.

The seminar participants are:
- Serge Guilbaut, Professor of Art History at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver (Canada). He is the author of the preface to Volume Two of the complete works (Collected Essays).
- Manuel Borja-Villel, Director of Madrid's Reina Sofía National Museum, and former director of the Fundació Antoni Tàpies in Barcelona.
- Julia E. Robinson, Professor of Art History at New York University, New York City.

The event also will feature the participation of Robert Lubar, a professor at New York University's Institute of Fine Arts in New York. Prof. Lubar, an expert on the work of Joan Miró as well as on avant-garde European art in general, will act as host and moderator of the event.
