“Viva Catalonia!” at the Spoffin festival in the Netherlands

Performing.  Amersfoort, 24/08/2017

The Dutch Spoffin festival is making a strong commitment to Catalan and Balearic companies in this year’s edition, so much so that they represent 80% of the entire programme. The Catalan and Balearic showcase, entitled “Viva Catalonia!”, has shows by eight street performing arts companies that include theatre, circus and dance.

The ICEC’s markets department is collaborating with the IRL on the project “Viva Catalonia, performing arts from Catalonia and the Balearic Islands”, by organizing a foretaste aimed at reinforcing Catalan and Balearic presence at the festival and incentivizing professional networking on Saturday, 26th August.

Viva Catalonia includes the performances of Ada Vilaró with Públic present 24 hores (performance), Vero Cendoya with La Partida (dance), Playground / Xavi Bobés with Coses que s’obliden fàcilment (object theatre), Animal Religion with Tauromàquina (circus), Eia circus company with Intarsi (circus), Hotel iocandi with Esquerdes (circus), Circ Bover with Vincles (circus) and Aina & Arias with A to A (dance).

Spoffin is a street arts festival in the Dutch city of Amersfoort which is noted for the quality of its programming and for being a meeting place for professionals in the sector from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Scandinavia and the UK, among others. The festival has recently been chosen to receive the EFFE Label 2017-2018 awarded by the European Festivals Association, and which is made up of European festivals that stand out for the artistic quality of their programme and for the impact they have on the local, national and international scene.
