Of Books and Roses: First California Symposium on Catalan Studies

The Catalan Program at the University of California, Los Angeles is delighted to host “Of Books and Roses: First California Symposium on Catalan Studies” on April 24th and 25th,, 2017. The conference seeks to be a point of reference for scholars working in all fields of Catalan Studies. Twenty presenters from across the US, Catalonia and Valencia will come together to share their most recent research on topics ranging from the portrayal of urban Barcelona in literature to changes in the sound system of Catalan. 




During the first day of the conference, there will be a celebration of the Sant Jordi tradition with books and roses for all registered attendees.  The symposium is supported by the UCLA Department of Spanish & Portuguese, The UCLA Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies and the Institut Ramon Llull.
