The Institut Ramon Llull has organized a new edition of the competition IRLats for Catalan students

On Monday, 6th March the entry period for a new edition of IRLats, the short-story competition organized by the Institut Ramon Llull, opens. The competition is for students of Catalan from outside Catalan-speaking areas, with the aim of encouraging creativity in Catalan among foreign students. Those taking part can submit their proposals from 6th March to 31st May, and they will be published on the IRLats website so that people can vote for them. The panel of judges’ verdict will be made public on 9th June, and the winner will be presented with free enrolment at the Catalan Language University Campus taking place in July this year.




The micro-stories will be published on the IRLats website as the participants send them, using the form. To enter the competition you must be a student of Catalan from outside Catalan-speaking areas and have Catalan as a non-native language. Each participant may submit one micro-story only, which must be original, unpublished, written in Catalan and be a maximum of 400 characters long. The subject matter is open.

The judges will choose a winner and a runner-up from among the micro-stories that get most votes on the network. The verdict will be made public on 9th June 2017, and the winner will be presented with free enrolment at the Catalan Language University Campus, taking place in July 2017. A bookmark will be published with the winning micro-story on it and the runner-up will receive a set of books.
