In four sessions – at 10 am, 11 am, 12 am and 1 pm – the doors of the Palau Baró de Quadras will be opened to the general public in a guided tour in Catalan. As a special event, besides seeing the façades, the vestibule and the main floor of Puig i Cadafalch’s Modernista gem, visitors will be able to enjoy an instrumental concert given by the young flautists and clarinettists of the Gymusic school of music. All the funds raised from this day will go to TV3’s La Marató.
We were told by the organizers of La Marató: “Education, awareness-raising and entertainment will go hand in hand to raise the funds necessary for raising awareness and giving an important financial boost to research into strokes and traumatic medullary and brain injuries in the 25th edition of TV3 and Catalunya Ràdio’s La Marató, which will take place on the third Sunday in December and will be presented by journalists Helena Garcia Melero and Ramon Pellicer.”
Located halfway between La Pedrera and La Casa de les Punxes, the Palau Baró de Quadras is one of the city of Barcelona’s jewels of Modernisme. It has been listed as a Historical-Artistic Monument of National Interest since 1976 and is a point of reference of Modernisme in Barcelona.
Run by the company Cases Singulars, the Palau Baró de Quadras can also be visited every Wednesday on individual tours and any day from Monday to Friday if you book in advance. During the visit, you will see the vestibule, the two façades and the main floor. The Wednesday tour, given by specialist guides, lasts for 45 minutes and is available in three languages: English at 11 am, Catalan at 12 noon and Spanish at 1 pm.
