Marina Rossell canta Moustaki

Music.  Canada, 11/09/2016

Marina Rossell is one of the greatest legends of Catalan song. In her 40 year career, she created more than 20 albums demonstrating her unmatched talent. Having traveled across much of Europe, the US and Latin America, Marina Rossell will tour Canada for the first time (Montreal, Toronto and Quebec City).

Nicknamed "the exquisite voice" by Barcelona's music critics since her beginnings in 1976, Marina Rossell will present a selection from her rich and expansive catalogue, including a few pieces from the album "Clàssics catalans" (2008), from her latest  "Cançons de la resistència" (2016) and from "Marina canta Moustaki" (2011-2014), the trilogy she devoted to her great departed friend.

"My songs, carried by Marina's Catalan voice, have found a new homeland. With all my gratitude." —Georges Moustaki

Other than Georges Moustaki, Marina Rossell has collaborated with other internationally-renowned songwriters such as Montserrat Caballé, Lila Downs, Angelo Branduardi, Luís Eduardo Aute, Carlos Cano, Santiago Auserón, Paco Ibáñez, Manzanita, Pedro Guerra and Maria Dolores Pradera.

Her commitment to serving freedom has earned her various prizes, including the Olof Palme Prize for her commitment to peace (2007).
