Presented by EUNIC London, the European Literature Festival will be a six-week celebration of literature from across the continent in the UK, with more than 60 writers and poets from more than 30 countries involved in events and projects. As well as events in the capital, ELF will reach beyond London with events in Chichester, Birmingham and Newcastle.

The Poetry Periscope installation features recordings of poems from 30 European cultures, each available in their original language and a recorded English translation. Josep Lluís Aguiló's poem 'El Sòtil' have been selected to take part in the project, in Catalan and in English.
Check out the free launch event on Tuesday 3 May 2016 at the British Library before it sets off on tour around the UK. Hosted by poet and broadcaster Ian McMillan, with live readings of poems from across Europe, the launch event will include UK poets Richard Scott, Gabriel Akamo and Charlotte Higgins, and special guest readings by Michal Habaj (Slovakia) and others.

The centrepiece of the European Literature Festival and the perfect chance to hear from six of the most talented storytellers in Europe today. Join broadcaster and host Rosie Goldsmith as we travel from Turkish prison cells to Copenhagen streets, to the dusty plains of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso; then on to a remote and stormy island (located between Scotland and Norway), and finish somewhere in the land that lies between Bulgaria and New York. Featuring Alek Popov (Bulgaria), Burhan Sönmez (Turkey), Dorthe Nors (Denmark), Gabriela Babnik (Slovenia), Jaap Robben(Netherlands) and Peter Verhelst (Belgium). With an opening address by Kate Mosse.
