'Jo confesso', translated into English by Mayra Faye Lethem, a candidate for the IMPAC in Dublin

Literature.  Dublin, 10/11/2015

The English translation of Jaume Cabré’s novel Jo confesso (Confessions) has been chosen for the 2016 International Dublin Literary Award. Organized by the Dublin public libraries network since 1994 and enjoying renowned international prestige, the prize money is set at €100,000, and over 160 novels are entered.

The works are nominated on a basis of “high literary merit” by over 400 library networks all over the world. Books can be proposed that have been published in English in the last year, and from there they enter the selection process managed by the public libraries of the city of Dublin.

Now six internationally prestigious judges have to consider each book in the list in order to shorten it to a maximum of ten. This shortlist will be announced in April 2016, and the winner will be decided. They will take home €100,000, to be shared between the author and the translator if this is the case.

The English translation of Jaume Cabré’s Confessions has been nominated by the municipal libraries of Geneva in Switzerland and by the Jozef Pilsudski Regional and Municipal Public Library in Łódź, Poland.

44 different countries have taken part in the selection of works
