'Requisitos para ser una persona normal' by Patricia Dolera
(Requirements to be a normal person)
Friday 6 Nov // 6.10pm & Saturday 7 Nov // 1.30pm
'What does it mean to be normal? 30-year-old María thinks she has the answer, a checklist of fundamental requirements; the only problem is she cannot tick off a single one. And so she sets out on a personal mission to become ‘normal’, fervently seeking these seven desires: a home, a partner, a job, a social life, a family life, a hobby and, of course, happiness. Dolera’s heart-warming story is an impressive directorial debut full of laugh-out-loud scenes, a great indie-pop soundtrack composed by the Spanish singer-songwriter Luthea Salom, and a delightful line-up of quirky characters.'
'Tots volem el millor per a ella' by Mar Coll
(We all want what's best for her)
Sunday 8 November // 3.45pm
'The film tells the story of Geni, played by Nora Navas, who is ready to resume her life one year after suffering a horrible traffic accident. Her family, in particular husband Dani shower her with kindness in their attempts to return Geni to her former way of life. However, her own desire to break with the immediate past causes her behaviour to become increasingly erratic and her family relationships become increasingly strained.'
This feature film is accompanied by Somos amigos (We Are Friends), a 13-minute, award-winning Spanish language short from Carlos Solano, a former student of Mar Coll. In this amusing and astute examination of male friendship in the work place, relationships come into conflict with a harsh economic reality.
