Based on real events, 'Born' follows the adventures of coppersmith Bonaventura, his sister Marianna and the rich merchant Vicenç. Director Claudio Zulian accurately reconstructs Barcelona in the 18th century, aided by director of photography Jimmy Gimferrer, who uses a style reminiscent of Vermeer to portray the era. The film has echoes of late Rossellini and early Greenaway and deserves to be enjoyed on the big screen.
