Performing.  Santiago de Chile, 03/01/2015

The Antigua i Barbuda horse and the Sarruga giraffes and elephants will be landing in Chile to take part in the next Santiago a Mil Festival, which will be held from 3 to 18 January. The Mataró company will take the Iron Horse that represented Barcelona at the last Beijing Design Week, with the support of the Institut Ramon Llull. Meanwhile, the Badalona company will be presenting “Hannavas”, a show that transports the African savannah to the city streets. The Catalan presence in Santiago has the support of the Institut Ramon Llull, which is committed to helping Catalan performers travel abroad.

The Antigua i Barbuda horse will be travelling to Santiago de Chile to perform from 6 to 24 January. The animal, which is made of iron and is the work of Jordà Ferrer and Òscar de la Paz, will be paraded through the streets, tamed by a ballerina and accompanied by music. The horse is intimately linked with the tradition of parades and street art in Catalonia. The Mataró company, founded in 2002, constructs stagings and gives animation performances. This multidisciplinary aspect is the result of work by architects, craftsmen, fashion designers, electricians, graphic designers, actors and musicians.

Meanwhile, from 8 to 22 January, visitors to the festival will also be able to enjoy the presence of two giant mobile giraffes and two elephants which have been brought from the African savannah by the Sarruga company. “Havannas” is a show whose leading characters are the giraffe Twiga and her daughter Sambah and the elephant Tembo and his son Tembito. This family event is accompanied by workshops and activities also related to the world of animals. The music used is original and the rhythm allows the audience to take part directly.
